In this tour we’ll show you the beginnings of the New World from the beginning of the 15th century in which the first colonial houses were built to the bases for what would be the discovery of America, an unique event for all humanity, we’ll visit the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, the first capital of America ever constructed passing through the “Malecón” and enjoying this great contrast between the modern and old world.
You’ll depart from your hotel in Bayahibe or La Romana aboard comfortable buses, watching the most remarkable attractions in this modern city.
Escorted by our guides with audio-guide in hand you’ll visit the Alcazar De Colon, a building that in its time was the vice regal palace of Don Diego Colon, son of Admiral Christopher Columbus, named viceroy of the Indies by the King of Spain to fill the roll his father left. You will be able to appreciate garments and objects of incalculable historical value from the time of colonization. You’ll visit the museum of Las Casas Reales, one of the most important museums of the city a place that for a lot of time was also used as a presidential palace by the presidents who ruled the country at the beginning of the last century.
Then we will take you to the National Pantheon, an emblematic place of great cultural, historical and patriotic value for Dominicans since there rest the remains of those who were its liberators and founding father, such as: Juan Pablo Duarte, Francisco Del Rosario Sanchez and Ramon Matías Mella, as well as other figures of great renown in the war of independence. After that we will visit the sumptuous Presidential Palace, an amazing architectural work, built in the middle of the last century by order of the then president and dictator, Rafael Leónidas Trujillo.
At midday is the time for lunch in one of the most emblematic restaurant of the capital city, where you can enjoy a delicious Creole lunch a lot of typical dishes from the culinary culture of the Dominican people.
After enjoying a tasteful Creole lunch you’ll continue to see the beautiful colonial area, this time we’ll have the opportunity to walk the Conde Peatonal, one of the most famous streets of the colonial area, which is full of shops, bars and restaurants, at the end of the This Pedestrian Count you’ll see the Cathedral Santa Maria La Menor, which is the first church built in the new world, here you can feel the great cultural and historical value of this great architectural work by your own. You’ll be able to feel the details of its decoration and the impeccable structure, you can also enjoy a short break and appreciate the beauty of the place sitting on one of the banks of the Columbus Park which was erected in honor of the discoverer of America, Cristóbal Colon, from here you will enjoy some free time to do shopping in that area you can buy canvases and paintings from local artists, precious stones such as Larimar and Amber, Coffee, Cacao, Tobacco, Mama Juana, Local Handicrafts, body creams, among many other items.
